The Marie and August Krogh Prize

Objective
The Marie and August Krogh Prize was established by the Novo Nordisk Foundation and the Danish Medical Society in 1969 and is awarded every year to an outstanding Danish medical scientist. The prize of DKK 100,000 is conferred at the Danish Medical Society's annual conference.

Until 2009 the Prize was awarded as The August Krogh Prize, hereafter known as The Marie and August Krogh Prize.

Board of the Danish Medical Society

The Danish Medical Society is an umbrella organisation for a large number of Danish societies within the medical sciences, the purpose of which is to promote Danish medical science and to disseminate the interests of its member societies in terms of internal and external tasks. The society also organises meetings on medical science topics by providing funding for international guest speakers and supports the publication of Danish doctoral dissertations, as well as ensuring that the education of Danish doctors at pregraduate and postgraduate levels meets global knowledge standards and that this is reflected in the work performed by medical practitioners within the Danish health care sector. Finally, the board of the Society is also the prize committee for the August Krogh Prize.
